Search Engine Optimization - Step by Step.
So - you've picked a domain name, created a snazzy site, figured out how to accept payments and filled your site with "gotta have" products. Time to go live and rake in the cash, right?
Not yet. People need to find your site. Sure, you can call all your friends and tell them, but unless you're really popular, that's probably not going to generate a lot of sales. People find your site through Search Engines like Google, Yahoo and MSN. And for these search engines to find you, you need to understand what they are looking for, what they like / don't like, and how they work before before you launch your site.
Think about it as a dance - it's one thing to get invited, but an entirely different matter to participate. Each search engine - Google, Yahoo, MSN - has its own rules, pace, lingo and particular dress code. You need to understand the nuances between each, pick the right one and learn the correct steps. Only then will you get noticed and stand out from the crowd (hopefully for the right reasons).
